In working with a number of organizations, I’ve found the focus on ROI to be a bit shortsighted. I understand the need to demonstrate the value of any investment, but Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) is more than just a cheaper way to deliver care with some new billable charge codes.
RPM is about engaging people, not just patients, in actively managing their health using real-time, objective feedback. It sets the foundation of gathering individual-specific data to support the shift from general evidence-based care to truly personalized care. It provides a pathway to digital therapeutics. When looking into implementing RPM programs, I would challenge you to think beyond the next 12 months and consider the long-term potential.
